Effect of Bellevue City Tax
The Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission allows PSE to increase the amount it charges its customers to recover the utility tax your city may assess on PSE (in this example, a utility tax rate of 2%) and the additional cost to collect it. The effect of city tax that PSE charges increases PSE's gross revenue and potential unpaid customer charges. PSE is required to pay the Washington State Utility Tax and the Washington State Filing Fee based on PSE's gross revenue which includes the effect of city tax that PSE charges. With each increase in gross revenue, PSE incurs additional unpaid customer charges, taxes, and fees, which in this example increases the cost to recover the utility tax, or the effect of the tax rate from 2% to 2.120%.
